Ten steps for improving page rank

The website is up and running. I had posted my first blog entry. What it is to be done next?

SEO Search Engine Optimization

1. Check that each of your webpages to have an appropriate tittle.

We are speaking about the title in the HTML file. The title that is displayed in your browser. As you can see every page on this website has a customized title. You have to make sure you put the right title on.

2. Take care of your Keywords.

Make sure you insert different keywords on each page in the HTML code.
meta content="services, repair, laptop, network, security, internet, services" name="keywords" This is very important because when your page is being scanned these are first landmarks for your page to be understand and to be categorized.

3. Use meta description.

You have to write a short description of your page in meta description code meta content="The PC Help offers a wide range of services that suit domestic users and small businesses. Main services are: Pc Repair, Laptop Repair, Internet, Security and Network Services" name="description"

Again this description is very important because search engines are looking for this description to index your website.

*if you have your website build on some platform you might have to install some SEO plugins. As I am using webnode.com this can be done quite easily in the page properties.

4. Use quality content. - The Golden Rule.

Everybody agrees with this. Quality content is the most important criteria. As I write these words I am creating content about how to optimize a website for google or another search engines. Hopefully is quality content for you. This is why it is recommended to have a company blog. With every blog post you write on your website you increase the chances of users to "stumble" upon your content and discover your website.

5. Put your business on Google Maps.

Create a Google + profile for your business. We all know that Google matter the most. If you have a local business or an area service, as The PC Help have, go to  www.google.com/local  and get your business place on your local map.

6. Get listed in local Directories. Get backlinks.

Only from SEO point of view you should get listed only in directories that links to your page and do not have the nofollow attribute. Easiest way to do this is to click on any business and right click were link to the website is and select inspect element. Note that this works only in chrome or firefox browser. If the no follow attribute is present it should look like this a rel="nofollow" href="https://www... in this case you can skip the directory. You still have to consider that even if there is no back link to your website people may end up in that directory and click to your link and they end up on your website and may become your clients/ readers. So I would recommend to subscribe in any directories.

7. Take down your competitors

I have found that on "computer repair Felixstowe" search on Google there are a few listings that appear there before my one and that they are not even real. Some companies are long gone, some of them are duplicate, one of them is still listed even if the owner retired. Therefore even the telephone numbers that appear on google search are either not working or are private numbers. I have reported some of these issues to google team through the feedback form and they already took some actions to remove the listings.

8.Use Keywords on your headings

Organize your website so that you will have your keywords in the headings. Don't forget to use this headings to increase your visual impact.

9. Submit your sitemap to google.

Google robots are going through your website and through your content but is not the same as if you submit your sitemap. When you submit your sitemap is like giving a map to someone in a foreign land, now he knows what and were. You should also have in mind to have a well structured website because it is much easier to read through by humans and robots as well.

10. Use Social Networking.

Every link to your site matters. Even if comes from a social network. Many links pointing to your website means that your website is very important. Imagine you have the most funniest cat picture in the world and you share it on facebook and in 5 days 5 million people are sharing the picture which points to you website. Make sure you take tons of pictures of your cat.A cat.
